New Tanjung Priok Container Terminal is one of the busiest port in North Jakarta. Tanjung Priok Container Terminal 1B located beside the existing slab on pile terminal 1A, the container terminal 1B is an artificial island constructed from dredge slurry with ultra-soft soil consistency.
The original condition of island is slurry material up to 7m depth followed by soft marine clay up to 25m depth. Double-stage Vacuum Consolidation Method (VCM) is applied to ±80 Ha with hydraulic sand preloading at stage 2 vacuum up to 11m. The south part of the island is planned to be jetty area which improved by Deep Cement Mixing (DCM) and other methods. Deep Cement Mixing is constructed within 30m x 1,300m area.
