OKI Pulp and Paper, a division of Sinarmas Group located in South Sumatra, has revolutionized soft soil improvement with the innovative vacuum consolidation method. By accelerating the dissipation process through Prefabricated Vertical Drains (PVD) and applying a minimum 80 kPa vacuum load (equivalent to the presure of an 8 story building), remarkable results have been achieved.

This method significantly increases the undrained shear strength of the soft soil, revealing open cuts during excavation. Not only does vacuum consolidation enhance shear strength, but it also effectively mitigates post settlement issues in the area.
